Welcome to the Cold Lake Minor Baseball Association (CLMBA) Rally Cap homepage. The CLMBA has a strong history of providing baseball opportunities for athletes, coaches, umpires and parents, and looks forward to another successful season.
Policies and Guidelines Handbook
Rally Cap general information can be accessed by clicking HERE. Each coach is given the Rally Cap guide prior to the start of the season. This will either be in paper or PDF.
Ages (4 to 7 years old)
All groups in this age are young and will need a guardian present at the fields at all times. For Rally cap Jr. (4 year olds and early 5 year olds, typically Teams 1-3), we ask that a parent be on the field with their child, and this group can be a little hard to manage by one coach.
Program Length
Dates: Usually run from first Monday in May to the last Wednesday that school is in session in June.
Days: Mondays & Wednesdays
Time: 6:00 - 7:15 pm
Fields
Imperial Park, 18U (midget field), just south of the Energy Centre. There is a playground just across the roads near the pickle ball courts for older siblings to play while Rally Cap is going on.

Jogging pants or baseball pants (no shorts), glove, running shoes (plastic cleats are allowed but not required), and a water bottle. Helmets are provided, but are recommended to be purchased for hygienic reasons. T-shirt will be provided by the CLMBA on the 1st night, a hat in the weeks following.
Practices / Games Format
Teams will spend 15 minutes at the beginning of each day practicing skill development and then rotating between offence, defense and then another skill session for 20 minutes each.
Game Modifications
Modifications are implemented during the games to ensure the players, coaches and parent helpers remain engaged, while still ensuring the players are taught the fundamentals of the game.
Players / Team
Each team will target 6-9 players with the optimal number being 6 or 7.
Player Registration Fee
$105.00 + current admin fees

Parent / Guardian Attendance Required
Rally Cap is not considered a drop-off program. A parent/guardian must be available at the field for the child at all times.
Coaches Required and Coaching Resources
A Head Coach and Assistant Coach are assigned to each Rally Cap team. Parents are also encouraged to assist the coaches as Parent Helpers. A skills and drills clinic will be hosted by the CLMBA in Cold Lake prior to the season starting which will provide the coaches with some basic information about throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting along with numerous drills that are camouflaged as fun games. The Rally Cap Director coordinates coaches' meetings prior to the season starting that allows coaches to meet each other, go through their equipment bag, review the Rally Cap Package (schedule, rules, format, modifications, etc.) and ask questions. Practice plans for the first two practices of the season are provided for all of the coaches to follow. The CLMBA also provides Rally Cap coaches with a Rally Cap manual created by Baseball Canada which provides a variety of skill development drills and games that are age-appropriate.
Further information about coaching in Rally Cap can be found under the Coaches tab above or by accessing the Coaching Certification FAQs.
